Limestone Engineering Services (LES) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a United States Patent (USPN 11,371,592) for a unique Continuously Variable-Ratio Transmission (CVT) that has several benefits over the present state-of-the-art CVT’s.

Some of the advantages include:
All the benefits of a standard-type mechanical belt-drive system, for example, a v-belt, round–belt or flat-belt system, while still maintaining the advantages of CVT operation. Some of the typical benefits of a standard-type mechanical belt-drive system include:
o high-efficiency,
o relative simplicity,
o relatively low-cost of manufacture,
o shock-load tolerance,
o NVH isolation,
o no special traction-type lubrication requirements
We envision applications in Electric Vehicles, ICE Vehicles and integration into other machine areas that would gain from variable ratio power transmission. Data suggest that a CVT will be an excellent match for optimizing Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) for improved efficiency. Data indicates as much as 17% to 24% improvement in consumed-electricity dependent on the weight class of the vehicle.
LES has built a small-scale, working “proof-of-concept” machine to demonstrate and verify how the IP technology works, and that information, in several forms, can be shared under the correct commercial arrangements.
We are seeking entities that have commercial interest to license and fully develop the IP toward a final product. The commercial terms would be negotiated once we establish that there is mutual interest.
